TransLight/StarLight provides University of Illinois at Chicago with funds for two connections between the U.S. and Europe for production science: a routed connection that connects the pan-European GÉANT2 to the USA Internet2 and ESnet networks, and a switched connection that is part of the LambdaGrid fabric being created by participants of the Global Lambda Integrated Facility (GLIF).
