CoUniverse @ Winter ‘09 ESCC/Internet2 Joint Techs Meeting

Self-organization is a principle necessary for the efficient organization of future application and networking environments. The CoUniverse system provides a self-organizing framework for orchestrating interactive collaborative and audio-visual applications, with a focus on using leading edge, high-performance networking infrastructures. The Internet2-DCN service allows for user-empowered allocations of end-to-end network circuits for their applications.

In a demonstration at the Joint Techs Winter 2009 meeting in College Station, TX, Masaryk University showed how Internet2-DCN could be integrated into the CoUniverse framework and thus, how CoUniverse could be used to orchestrate not only applications, but also the network circuits based on users’ requirements for real-time multimedia stream distribution. The demonstration interconnected Masaryk’s Laboratory of Advanced Networking Technologies in the Czech Republic and Texas A&M University where the Joint Techs meeting took place.

Note: This demonstration did not utilize TransLight/StarLight, but leveraged the Czech Republic’s investment in transatlantic networking, utilizing the CESNET international circuit between Prague and StarLight in Chicago.
