The Israel Inter-University Computation Center (IUCC) has successfully installed the first high-speed satellite link of up to 45 Mbit/s to STAR TAP, ushering in its next generation Internet initiative.

By joining the National Science Foundation's vBNS network, the IUCC can now tap into networks dedicated to academia that operate at much higher speeds than the existing commercial Internet.
