First AMPATH International Conference

You are cordially invited to attend the First AMPATH International Conference!
Building on last year's success with the Miami Workshop to Identify Areas
of Scientific Collaboration between the US and the AMPATH Service Area, the
First AMPATH International Conference seeks to further delve into the
benefits of utilizing the AMPATH advanced networking infrastructure for
scientific research and education. Once again, the AMPATH Project has
received a generous grant from Advanced Networking Infrastructure and
Research (ANIR) Division / CISE Directorate of the National Science
Foundation.
The conference description, with a sample agenda and tentative speaker
list, is available at the
AMPATH web site. This one-day
conference on April 12, 2002 will focus on presentations from Latin
American researchers and their US-based collaborators to demonstrate the
value the AMPATH advanced networking infrastructure brings to their work.
The conference is being held in conjunction with REUNA's 2nd Congress on
Science, Culture and Education over Internet2.
Please plan on arriving in Valdivia in time for a reception on the evening
of April 10th, and staying for a half-day after the workshop to participate
in follow-up activities. Please contact me with any questions or comments.

THE AMPATH CONFERENCE WEBSITE
IS NOW UPDATED WITH HOTEL AND REGISTRATION INFORMATION.
AMPATH is a project of Florida International University in collaboration
with Global Crossing, in support of scientific research applications that
either involve collaboration between U.S. and multi-national researchers,
or wholly run U.S. projects. The AMPATH service area includes South and
Central America, Mexico and the Caribbean. We plan to connect National
Research Networks in the service area to Research and Education networks in
the US and beyond via the UCAID Abilene network and the STAR TAP. AMPATH's
goal is to facilitate research collaboration between the service area and
the rest of the world to further advance U.S. science and education.

Le invitamos cordialmente a asistir la primera conferencia internacional de
AMPATH!
Sumando al éxito del taller en Miami el pasado agosto para identificar
áreas de colaboración científica entre los E.E.U.U. y el área de servicio
de AMPATH, la primera conferencia internacional de AMPATH intenta cavar más
lejos en las ventajas de utilizar el AMPATH avanzó la infraestructura del
establecimiento de una red para la investigación y la educación
científica. De nuevo, el proyecto de AMPATH ha recibido una concesión
abundante de la división de la red avanzada de infraestructura y
Ñetworking' (ANIR) de la dirección de CISE del National Science Foundation.
La descripción de la conferencia con agenda provisional y una lista
tentativa de expositores esta disponible en el
sitio web de AMPATH.
Esta conferencia de un día, el 12 de abril de 2002, se
enfocará en presentaciones de investigadores latinoamericanos y sus
colaboradores estadounidenses. Ellos demostrarán el valor que la
infraestructura de la red de AMPATH trae a su trabajo. La conferencia se
llevará a cabo en conjunto con el 2° Encuentro Internacional Ciencia,
Cultura y Educación sobre Internet2 de REUNA.
Planea por favor llegar a Valdivia a tiempo para asistir a una recepción el
10 de abril por la tarde, y permanecer para medio día después de la
conferencia para participar en actividades importantes de seguimiento.

La red de AmericasPATH (AMPATH) es un proyecto de FIU en colaboración con
Global Crossing (GC). Utilizando la red terrestre y de fibra óptica
submarina de GC, AMPATH interconectará las redes de educación e
investigación en el sur y América Central, el Caribe y México a las redes
de investigación y educación de los EEUU y fuera de los EEUU vía la red
Abilene de UCAID.
